Welcome to the homepage of Daniel J. Kapust. I am a Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and am the inaugural holder of the Judith Hicks Stiehm Chair in Political Theory. I currently serve as the Director of the Integrated Liberal Studies Program. My research and teaching interests center on Roman, early modern (Italian and British), and 18th century (American, British, and French) political thought, with a particular focus on the themes of republicanism, rhetoric, and empire. I'm currently working on two book projects, one dealing with Lucretius and early modern thought, the other dealing with narrative, empire, and republicanism.
